Scott Beach, USN pilot, looks around the islands that have been his home for most of the last four years that the United States has been at war with Japan, and realizes that with the war finally over, he doesn’t want to go home. He really has no home to go to. Why leave when everything he wants is right here? A paradise is already at his feet, just waiting for him to find a way to sit down under a palm tree and enjoy the swaying palm trees, blue water, and warm breezes caressing his tanned skin. Having a beautiful nurse as his girlfriend certainly helps.
But just because the war is over, doesn’t mean the war is over. Scott has to rescue a fellow Navy officer who doesn’t know the war is done, and when he does, Scott makes an incredible discovery. Hidden amidst the islands across the Pacific is an abandoned distillery, created by four French brothers years earlier, now long gone. Scott decides that staying in the Pacific and making rum would probably be a good career move, but he has to figure out just how to move the stills nearer to him, while also continuing his assignment as a pilot for the US Navy, and doing it all without his commander discovering what Scott has planned and ruining it all.
The Lost Rum Of Tiki Island is a great escapist tale of rum and adventure. These are the books I not only like to write, but love to read, with colorful and charming characters, easy to like, and you just want to know how everything is going to work out in the end. It may take place at the end of World War II, but it’s not a war novel. It’s an adventure!
