When Hurricane Michelle approaches the coast of North Carolina, Erick Sunstrom drives to his historic family home on the coast to close it up. He wants to avoid as much of the storm and the distractions of coming home as possible. When he discovers that his former girlfriend, Eliza Rhodes, is home in her beach house where they first met as teenagers, the storm becomes the least of his worries.
The two high school sweethearts and former couple must confront the winds and rain, as well as their pasts, when they are thrown together in the heart of the storm. Eliza must face leaving Erick when he needed her most. Erick has to deal with a more complex past. His teenage love for Eliza had been threatened by her father, and Erick’s own family wealth and expectations. Personal desires for success apart from the Sunstrom name clash with Erick’s desire for Eliza and her wish for normalcy and freedom from her own family.
